Hearing To Be Held About Market House Lawsuit
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) ―
A court hearing is scheduled for Friday afternoon in Annapolis on changes to the lawsuit filed by the operator of the historic city-owned Market House.
Market House Ventures, a subsidiary of Site Realty Group, has increased its claim for damages. The earlier filing sought $2 million from the city, but that amount was increased Thursday to $6 million.
The company also demanded that the city refund the rent paid since the company began operating the market in 2006. The suit also demands that the city issue certificates of occupancy for three new merchants at the market.
Mayor Ellen Moyer's refused to comment on pending litigation.
The original lawsuit claims that the city's failure to install an appropriate air conditioning system resulted in a loss of revenue.
