BALTIMORE (WJZ) ―
The countdown has begun for one of the biggest events of Baltimore's holiday season.
Ron Matz reports preparations are underway for the 9th Annual Mammoth Manic Monday Meltdown.
The Mammoth Manic Monday Meltdown is a Baltimore tradition. It draws hundreds to Fells Point.
"It's a great kickoff to the holidays and a huge event," said June Castranova.
The Manic Monday staff gathered to watch all the contenders and they picked the five finalists. It can all be seen from WJZ.COM.
It has been a great year of Manic Mondays. The meltdown happens one week from Monday, in the square in the front of Jimmy's in Fells Point.
Every year the judging gets tougher because there are so many great performances to choose from.
"We take this serious," Marty Bass said.
"Really big action. The square is filled but you never really realize it because it feels like one big party. It keeps getting bigger every year," said Jimmy Filipides.
It's always a difficult decision, but someone will be crowned the champion and take home the coveted Manic Monday trophy named the Valentino.
