Police Question 2 People For School Threat

SYKESVILLE, Md. (WJZ) ― Maryland State Police have two people of interest in custody in connection with a school threat that affected several Carroll County Schools.

Dozens of Carroll County schools were put on lockdown after threats were made Thursday morning. The lockdown was lifted shortly around 1 p.m. All regular school activities will continue.

Alex DeMetrick reports a caller made a threat about "shooting up" Century High School.

Officials say the call came from a shopping center pay phone around 10 a.m. Thursday.

As a precaution, Maryland State Police issued a code orange for dozens of schools, which prompted a lockdown.

Right after the code orange went into effect, police say a Century High student, who had an unexcused absence, showed up at the school with another person. They were not allowed in the school.

Police say the two then left the school and went to South Carroll High School. Police say this was suspicious and took them into custody to question them.

In total, 42 schools were put on lockdown during the threat.

"It's normal. Nobody's freaking out or anything," said one student.
