Pentagon Memorial Opens To The Public

Arlington, VA (AP) ― The public is getting a chance to view the spot where a hijacked plane crashed into the Pentagon on 9/11.

To mark the fifth anniversary of the attack, the Pentagon memorial site and the Americas Heroes Memorial locatedinside the building will be open Saturday.

The tours run from 10 a-m until 2 p-m, and visitors are encouraged to arrive by Metro. Photography is prohibited.

Visitors will walk past the rebuilt wall of the Pentagon, where American Airlines Flight 77 hit the building. The wall includes a stone scorched by the crash and inscribed with the date of the attack.

Tour groups also will see a room dedicated to the victims, whose names are inscribed on black panels and whose personal stories are contained in books.
