Man Tries To Pay For Munchies With Marijuana

OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) ― Ocean City police say an intoxicated Bel Air man didn't have enough cash to pay for his munchies -- so he
tried to pay for the snacks with marijuana.

It happened around 3 p.m. on Monday at the 7-Eleven on 94th Street.

Police say 27-year-old Michael Autry brought a bag of chips and three bottles of Gatorade to the counter. When he was only able to produce one dollar bill, police say he took out a baggie of marijuana and put about half of it on the counter.

The clerk told him he would not accept marijuana as payment and said he was calling the police.

Police say Autry broke a bottle on the counter and fled leaving the marijuana behind.

An officer and her dog tracked Autry to the dunes behind the Pyramid Condominium and arrested him.

He's charged with misdemeanor theft and possession of marijuana.
