Md. Lobbyist With 7 DUIs Sentenced To Probation

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) ― A Maryland lobbyist with seven drunken-driving convictions has been let out of jail after spending a little more than a month there for his latest arrest.

David A. Jacobs, 53, had been in jail since pleading guilty Oct. 13 in connection with an April crash. Jacobs, of Mitchellville, was drunk when he lost control of his Honda Pilot and struck another car and a guardrail.

On Wednesday, Prince George's District Court Judge Hassan Ali El-Amin ordered Jacobs to an in-patient alcohol treatment program for 28 days. He also sentenced him to three years of supervised probation.

The state's attorney's office expressed disappointment with what it called "a slap-on-the-wrist sentence."

Jacobs has lobbied in Annapolis for the county council and the sheriff's department.
