MTA Announces Temporary Discontinued Service

More headaches are in store for commuters who count on light rail service to get around.
Falling leaves are putting the brakes on light rail service in Baltimore, and the problem is only getting worse.
Kelly McPherson reports the Maryland Transit Administration says a large number of trains are out of service for wheel maintenance.
Light rail passengers are being told to plan for extra time because they'll be riding buses instead of the trains.
They are also being forewarned the buses will be crowded as more than two-thirds of MTA's trains are out of commission.
"It's been miserable. I got to work three times late. Almost got fired," said one commuter.
"When you start seeing wheels cracking and you start seeing wheels start to disintegrate, you have to look and say listen these were all made around the same time, and so after we closely inspected it, we started to see a pattern emerging of problems," said Jawauna Greene, MTA spokesperson.
Because of this, beginning Saturday, service between the North Avenue and Hunt Valley stops will be temporarily discontinued.
Shuttle buses will provide service to those riders.
MTA engineers are trying to come up with a solution to the ongoing wheel damage problems.
The delays are worse than last year because after MTA discovered a cracked wheel this past summer, there are new, stricter protocols.
They are checking any possible damage, and that is why there is such a big impact.
The MTA says passengers should add an extra 45 minutes to their commute.
