Light Rail Inspection Cramps Commuters

BALTIMORE (AP) ―

If you're feeling a little cramped while riding Baltimore's light rail system, there's a good reason.

Maryland Transit Administration officials say they have had to increase inspections of the MTA's 53 light rail cars after discovering a cracked wheel on one car a month ago. That has forced the system's operators to run more single car trains instead of the normal two-car trains.

Commuters say they have been seeing more standing-room only trains as a result. The MTA says it could take until late summer to finish the inspections
