Records Show Missing Teens Had Been Arrested

CATSONVILLE, Md. (WJZ) ― The search continues for two teenage brothers kidnapped from their Catonsville home.

Jessica Kartalija reports both teens have been arrested a number of times, for crimes ranging from auto theft to drug dealing.

It was in a rented home in Catonsville where 15-year-old Sterling Blackwell and 16-year-old Stephon Blackwell were kidnapped at 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Six armed, masked men arrived in a Chevy Suburban, entered the home and bound the teens' mother and seven other adults with duct tape.

Eight hours later, they fled with the teens in a black 645 BMW convertible. The convertible later turned up on the 200-block of Glover Street in East Baltimore.

"Certainly their safety is of utmost importance to us now. We just want to see if we have anybody out in the public who may have seen them or have seen anybody, who even looks like them, so we can try and target a particular area," said Corporal Mike Hill, spokesperson for Baltimore County Police.

WJZ's newspaper partner, "The Baltimore Examiner," has learned Stephon Blackwell was arrested for distributing marijuana, drug possession, burglary and assault, and for bringing a deadly weapon to Highlandtown Middle School.

His brother, Sterling, was arrested on auto theft charges, disorderly conduct and second-degree assault.

There is still an Amber Alert in effect for the Blackwell brothers. Police are hoping the alert will lead them to the teens unharmed.

Since the program's inception six years ago, there have been 23 Amber Alerts statewide.
