Sentence Stayed For Woman Charged In Hit-And-Run

BEL AIR, Md. (AP) ― Harford County prosecutors say an Elkton woman charged in a hit-and-run crash in Baltimore that killed a Maryland Transportation Authority police officer on Interstate 95 has had an unrelated prison sentence stayed.

Kerri King, 35, had been sentenced to one year in jail for driving on a suspended license. State's Attorney Joseph Cassilly says no prosecutors were present to object when King's attorney met with a circuit court judge to file an appeal and have the sentence stayed.

Cassilly says a hearing on whether the state's attorney was given the opportunity to object is scheduled in District Court on Tuesday.

King was indicted in Baltimore last week and charged with the hit-and-run killing of Cpl. Courtney Brooks and is being held without bail in Baltimore.
