Person Of Interest In Hit & Run Gets Year In Jail
BEL AIR, Md. (AP) ―
An Elkton woman considered a "person of interest" in a hit-and-run that killed a Maryland Transportation Authority Police officer on New Year's Eve has been ordered to serve a year in jail in an unrelated case.
Kerri King, 35, was sentenced Tuesday in Harford County for her November conviction for driving on a suspended license.
She received the maximum sentence after a judge reviewed her record of traffic offenses.
Police said King was a part-time dancer on The Block in Baltimore and owned the SUV that struck and killed Officer Courtney Brooks.
He was killed while working a traffic detail on Interstate 95. King has not been charged in the death but was jailed in Baltimore for failing to appear in court on a September drunken-driving charge.
