Armed Juvenile Tries To Run Down Officers

PAROLE, Md. (AP) ―

Anne Arundel County Police say an armed juvenile driving a stolen minivan tried to run over some police officers.

It happened Wednesday afternoon, after police found the van at a park-and-ride lot in Parole. Police say officers spotted a sawed-off shotgun inside.

Officers watched until a 15-year-old boy and two men got in the van, then approached with guns drawn. Police say the teen driver tried to run down the officers, then drove off. The chase ended when the teen crashed into a police car in Annapolis.

Police arrested the adults and used a stun gun to subdue the teen when he tried to run away.

The teen is charged as a juvenile with assault, possessing an altered shotgun and drug possession. Stephan Fortune, 18, and James Thomas Jr., 21, face the same charges.
