Salisbury Man Convicted In Abuse Of Infant

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) ― A jury in Wicomico County has convicted a Salisbury man on child abuse charges for fracturing the skull of his newborn son.

Wayman Witcher, 35, was convicted Tuesday after a two-day trial and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

The infant was injured after his mother left him in Witcher's care last August. The jury convicted Witcher on charges related to an Aug. 24 incident, but acquitted him on similar charges stemming from suspected injuries to the child on Aug. 29.

The baby's mother, Heather Stilwell, told the court during sentencing that her son is now doing fine.
