Companies Moving From Baltimore, Selling Buildings
BALTIMORE (AP) ―
A Zurich spokesman says the company is moving 800 Baltimore employees, while Bank of America says it's closing a downtown Baltimore location.
Zurich spokesman Steve McKay says the company is selling two buildings in the Hampden neighborhood to make the best use of its space. He says the company is looking for a smaller site in the Baltimore area.
More than 200 employees at the bank downtown will relocate to a Hunt Valley office the bank already owns to optimize the company's space. Another 100 employees will move to another downtown location.
A bank spokeswoman says the relocation will be complete by June, before the operations center's lease ends.
A downtown development spokesman says the Zurich and Bank of America buildings will eventually be converted to something else.
