ALEDO, TX (WJZ) ― Jessie Hall is finally back in her own bed at home after beating a deadly brain condition with a drastic surgery.

Adam May reports at a park in Aledo, Texas, there were shirts, balloons, signs and even pink hair.

It was the homecoming party for six-year-old Jessie Hall.

Two months ago, Jessie had the diseased right half of her brain removed.

Now, Jessie and her family are thankful for her recovery and the people who stood beside her.

Only Eyewitness News was in the operating room at Johns Hopkins Children's Center for the rare procedure. During recovery she told WJZ she missed home.

Jessie's parents hope their daughter's struggle will draw attention to Rasmussen's encephalitis and the treatments.

"For generations to come, and I hope our foundation is the one to fund the research to finally put an end to the disease," said Cris Hall, Jessie's father.

Jessie will be the face for that effort for years to come.
