Pitcher Hoey Out For Year

BALTIMORE (AP) ―

Jim Hoey, who pitched in 23 games for Baltimore last year, is done for the season after undergoing shoulder surgery on May 4.

Hoey was shut down with shoulder inflammation during spring training after going 1-0 with a 6.00 ERA in three appearances. The right-hander had difficulty getting loose before pitching, a problem that continued after he was sent to the team's minor league camp in late March.
