Hyattsville Man Sentenced In Probation Office Fire

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) ― Federal prosecutors say a Hyattsville man has been sentenced to five years in prison for setting a federal probation office on fire.

Harry Easterday, 28, pleaded guilty to setting a fire on the first floor of the probation office building in Greenbelt. He was sentenced on Wednesday.

Authorities say Easterday broke into the building and started the fire, which was extinguished by a sprinkler system. Only minor damage was done.

Easterday was on probation at the time of the January 26, 2008 fire and a U.S. Probation officer assigned to that office was supervising Easterday's probation.
