A Halloween bash turns violent. Shock gave way to horror as dozens of people ran from gunfire inside a million-dollar mansion.
One teenager is dead, and another young man is paralyzed.
WJZ is learning new information about the chaos inside, which unfolded early Sunday morning inside a home in the exclusive Forest Glen subdivision in Columbia, Howard County.
Andrea Fujii reports neighbors heard a flurry of gunfire and saw people running for their lives.
Police are now offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest for what is the second murder this year in Howard County.
Investigators scoured the $1.6-million home for evidence after a Halloween party turned deadly, leaving 19-year-old Aaron Brice dead and changing the life of Nathaniel Quick, 22, forever. Quick's grandparents say he's now paralyzed.
Police say a fight broke out, but they don't know what started it.
"We are leaving open every possibility in terms of what type of weapon this might have been, how many shooters, or where the shots were fired from," said Sherry Llewellyn, Howard County police spokeswoman. "There have been absolutely no indications at this point that this was related to gang activity or drugs."
"I heard something like gunshots, and I actually thought they were fireworks," said neighbor Fadeke Iluyomade.
Iluyomade called police after she saw people running through her yard.
"It was like a thousand to me. I have never seen a crowd like that," said Iluyomade.
Investigators say the homeowner rented the house for the party, something they had done before.
"We were called to the same location in June for a similar-type incident where an altercation broke out," Llewellyn said.
"We were just having a party. People just don't know how to act," said one partygoer.
It's unheard of violence in the exclusive community of expensive homes.
"It is unbelievable and quite disturbing actually that something like that would happen in this neighborhood," Iluyomade said.
Police want to solve the crime now.
"We do believe the people who were there have information, and we're asking for them to come forward," Llewellyn said.
Police say two other people were injured, but not from the gunfire. They are not releasing their names because they are witnesses.
Those at the house when
WJZ was at the scene declined to comment.
