Police Search For Clues In Liquor Store Murder

Baltimore County police are seeking the public's help in locating the man who killed a woman inside Charing Cross Liquors in the 5200-block of Baltimore National Pike.

Baltimore County Police are searching for clues to help them catch the killer who slit the throat of a woman waiting in line at a Catonsville liquor store.
Dennis Edwards reports police have released a photo of the killer.
Surveillance camera video inside the store captured photos of the killer. Now police hope those images can help them catch the killer himself.
County police hope someone recognizes the man from a picture taken inside the Charing Cross liquor store Saturday afternoon during the murder. Aysha Ring, 24, was waiting in line at the register when police say the killer grabbed her, cut her throat and walked out.
"He didn't rob the place. He didn't harm anybody else. What he was doing there, though, we don't really know. There's no motive yet. When we catch him, we'll be able to get more of that," said Bill Toohey, Baltimore County Police spokesperson.
There was a heavy police presence at the Charing Cross Plaza Monday as police continued to check the store's surveillance camera video. Shoppers can't miss the reward posters asking for information in the case.
The liquor store has reopened for business. The owner, Yon Kim, says Ring's boyfriend is a frequent customer. The two, he says, often came in for chips and soda. But he says he'd never seen the suspect and didn't pay attention until the man grabbed Ring, cut her throat and walked away.
"First time, I thought it was some play. But later I saw a little blood coming," he said.
"I seen a lady lying there at the counter like somebody just brutally stabbed. This woman was somebody's daughter. My heart just dropped," said neighbor Tina Blum.
Eyewitness News has learned that at least one customer saw the suspect standing on a sidewalk talking to himself outside another store earlier in the day.
While police hope someone recognizes the killer, friends and colleagues mourn the death of the victim. Ring spent the last year and a half working at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School helping students with their internships.
"We just saw students very, very upset because Aysha had so much to do with their daily life here in school. She had a great impact on them. She'll be very sorely missed," said Father John Swope.
Police say the store was crowded. There were about 15 customers inside at the time of the murder. Some witnesses left before they could be questioned by investigators. Police say they want to talk to those people to see if they can remember any helpful details.
