Guilty Verdict Given In Hit-And-Run Trial

TOWSON, Md. (WJZ/AP) ― A Baltimore County judge has found a woman guilty of vehicular manslaughter and six other counts in a hit-and-run accident that killed a three-year-old boy last December.

Derek Valcourt reports Lazara Arellano De Hogue was found guilty Monday of striking Elijah Cozart and his grandmother Marjorie Thomas as they crossed Goucher Boulevard in Towson. Police said De Hogue got out of the truck about a half mile away, and pulled the boy's stroller from under the truck and drove off.

The boy died and Thomas was seriously injured.  De Hogue, who waived her right to a jury trial, faces up to 25 years in prison.

As Circuit Court Judge John Hennegan handed down the verdict, he said it was the "most unsatisfying verdict" of his life.
