It's hard to believe, but Baltimore's Hippodrome has been re-opened for five years.
Sally Thorner reports the honeymoon's over, but the theater's new chief is hoping for a second honeymoon.
This is what you're used to seeing at the Hippodrome and will see in the coming season: Broadway hits like "In the Heights" and "Young Frankenstein."
"It's a wonderful Mel Brooks show. You just have to love Mel Brooks," Daniel said.
But the Hippodrome's got a new head and a new attitude.
Jeff Daniel's been in town three weeks and he's hit the ground running. First order of business, broaden the appeal.
"The Hippodrome is bigger than the Broadway series. It's a performing arts center that's five years old in a major metropolitan area," said Daniel.
So expect to see more concerts, touring gospel shows, and less dark nights at the Hippodrome. It's show biz with an emphasis on the "biz."
"The more days that we're lit, the better off we are. It affects the businesses around us," Daniel said.
Daniel has his work cut out for him. He has to convince producers that Baltimore isn't just a pit stop between Philly and Washington, D.C.
"First-rate shows come here first," he said. "Go to the event, have a good time. Go to dinner. Come down and make a night of it."
A subscription can cost as little as $124 for six shows.
