A boisterous crowd attended a Towson University town hall meeting on President Barack Obama's controversial health care plan. The meeting was hosted by Maryland Senator Ben Cardin, who took a lot of criticism.
Senator Ben Cardin sat down with Adam May for his first in-depth interview following the rowdy town hall meeting at Towson University Monday, packed with people who oppose current health care reform efforts.
"I don't think it furthers the debate if you intentionally put out information that is false," Cardin said. "We need to make [health care] available to more people and we need to make it affordable."
Protests have been vicious and hateful. One sign compared Obama to Hitler and another said Democrats--including Cardin--are liars.
"It's not about President Obama. It's about solving the health care issues in this country," Cardin said.
There are many supporters of the plan but polls show growing concerns. One of the biggest issues for conservatives is tort reform. Cardin says he's open to discuss it.
He will hold another town hall meeting in Hagerstown Wednesday.
