Fire Marshals Investigating Hagerstown Prison Fire

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) ― Maryland fire marshals are investigating a fire in a cell at a Hagerstown prison.

About 1 a.m. Tuesday, Maryland Correctional Training Center officers put out a fire in a cell. Eugene Jones, who was in the cell, was treated for smoke inhalation at the prison infirmary and released.

Deputy Fire Marshals say mattress stuffing and toilet paper was used to start the fire. No one else was injured.

Authorities say the fire did $250 in damage to property in the cell.
