Program At Pa. College Closes After Flu Outbreak

A summer enrichment camp at a central Pennsylvania college is closing down after a flu outbreak that includes one confirmed case of swine flu.

The summer program at Dickinson College in Carlisle is closing early after about 50 children reported symptoms. One early case has been confirmed as the H1N1 virus.

The camp is run by the Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University. Program spokesman Charles Beckman says about 30 students reported symptoms on Tuesday, prompting the decision to close.

Beckman says about 190 students are still on campus and program officials hope to have them all home by Saturday. The program will host any students who cannot immediately return home for as long as necessary.

The program at Dickinson serves high-achieving students ages 12 to 16.
