Boy, 7, Found With 2 Loaded Handguns At School
RANDALLSTOWN, Md. (WJZ) ―
Baltimore County police say a 7-year-old boy has been turned over to his parents after he was caught with two loaded handguns at Randallstown Elementary School.
Gigi Barnett reports the boy was detained after a 9 millimeter handgun fell out of his pocket in a classroom.
The child was then taken to the principal's office. Officials called police and they searched the boy's locker and found a second gun, a 40-caliber handgun, in his backpack.
"What we do know with the 7-year-old is that he did not take them maliciously going to school to show them to anybody to do anything with them. He is probably more scared now than anything because of the fact that he understands the circumstances that these were loaded and could have hurt someone," said Corporal Mike Hill, Baltimore County Police spokesperson.
Police say both weapons were fully loaded, each with a round in the chamber.
The child found the gun at his uncle's house, while staying with him over the weekend.
It's not known if juvenile charges have been filed.
