Trial Postponed For Man Accused Of Killing Officer

BALTIMORE (AP) ― The murder trial of a Baltimore man accused of killing an off-duty city police officer has been postponed.

Brandon Grimes was scheduled to go on trial Thursday for the January 2007 shooting death of 34-year-old Detective Troy Chesley, but the prosecutor was involved in another trial. A new trial date has not been set.

Grimes is expected, however, to go on trial this week on an unrelated handgun charge.

Grimes is charged with first-degree murder. Police say Chesley was gunned down outside a home on Fairfax Road in what investigators believe was a robbery attempt.
