Giant Food Recalls Bakery Items

LANDOVER, Md. (AP) ― Giant Food is recalling several bakery products that lack labels indicating the items could contain nut allergens.

The products are manufactured by Grandma Taylor and were sold in Giant's bakeshop.

All have been pulled from store shelves; no illnesses have been reported.

The following products are affected by the recall if purchased on or before Sept. 24:

Giant Rainbow Cake; Giant Mundel Bread; Giant Rugalah (raspberry, cinnamon raisin nut and chocolate chip); and Giant Hamatashen (cherry, prune, poppy, apricot and assorted varieties).

Giant Food, which is owned by Amsterdam-based Royal Ahold NV, warns that people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to nut products are at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the products.
