Committees Seek Source Of High Gas Prices

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― Congressional committees continue to look for causes of record-breaking gas prices.

Political reporter Pat Warren has more on a growing list of explanations.

The U.S. economy hits an oil slick and Congress is looking for the brakes.  Some consumers don't think they're getting the straight story.

"I really think it's a lot to it," one angry customer said.  "More than they're telling us."

Big oil profiteering strikes a nerve with cab driver Bill Monk.

"Talk about profits, this really cuts into mine," he said.

The list goes on--increased demand by China and the weakness of the dollar have also been blamed.

Expectations are the prices will continue to climb.
