Fire Crews On Scene Of Pikesville Gas Leak

GARRISON, Md. (WJZ) ― Fire officials are investigating a gas leak in Baltimore County.

There are reports that the gas main happened around 9:30 a.m. on Ruth Eager Court in Pikesville.

It seems an underground gas line has ruptured.  The cause of the break is not known at this time.

Power has been turned off at some homes.

Crews continue to measure the levels. The levels are expected to drop once BGE shuts off the gas; once that happens, residents should be able to return.

Some residents have been evacuated.  Few residents were home when the leak occurred, others were sheltered in a medic unit.

Firefighters and BGE are on the scene.

No injuries reported.
