Man Killed While Crossing Road Is Identified

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) ―

Police have identified a pedestrian who was struck and killed while trying to cross a road in Gaithersburg.

Montgomery County police say 51-year-old Jerry Joseph Sandy of Rockville was attempting to cross Muddy Branch Road at Killarney Lane when he was struck and killed Thursday night.

Sandy was with a female companion when he was hit by a car traveling west on Muddy Branch Road.

The driver, a woman from Gaithersburg, remained on the scene.
