Stocking Up Your Fridge Could Save Energy

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― Your fridge can help you save money.

Mary Bubala reports energy experts say we should set our refrigerator temperature between 37 and 40 degrees.

Keep the fridge full. When it's stocked, less cold air is lost when the door is open.

Cover liquids and wrap foods stored in the fridge. Uncovered food releases moisture and makes the compressor work harder.

If your fridge is old, think about upgrading to a new Energy Star refrigerator.  On average, they us at least 20% less energy.
