BP Solar Expands Program To Schools In Fred. Co.
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) ―
British energy company BP PLC says it is expanding a program to teach students in Frederick County public schools about alternative energy.
The $30,000 worth of educational materials includes information about solar panels like those produced at the company's BP Solar plant in Frederick.
In 2006, the company donated materials for use in fifth-grade science classes. The new gift benefits eighth-grade students.
BP Solar also is conducting student tours of its plant, providing classroom speakers and supplying solar modules for a planned earth and space science lab.
