Man Accused Of Pimping His Foster Child

WASHINGTON (AP) ― Authorities say a man accused of selling underage girls for sex in the District of Columbia was the foster father of one of his victims.

The girl started working for Shelby Lewis when she was 12 years old. A D.C. detective testified last week that the girl was also raped by Lewis.

The girl is the youngest of several whom Lewis is accused of transporting from Maryland to the District.

He was arrested in May on five counts of child sex trafficking. On Thursday, a magistrate judge ordered the Temple Hills man held without bail.

Lewis was first taken into custody after D.C. police arrested two teenage girls while they walked a well-known prostitution track at 14th and K streets.
