Fire Destroys Montgomery Co. Home

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) ―

Montgomery County police say fire has destroyed a large home, causing millions of dollars in damage.

Authorities say the blaze broke out about 3 a.m. Sunday at Ashton Oaks Court.

Part of the 6,000-square foot home collapsed as crews worked to put out flames.

Officials say the fire caused $3 million to $4 million in damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No one was inside the house and no injuries were reported.

The home is owned by Aklog Birara, senior adviser on racial equality to the World Bank.
