Cigarette Blamed For Baltimore County Fire

PARKVILLE, Md. (AP) ―

Baltimore County fire officials say a discarded cigarette on a patio caused a 2-alarm fire at a rowhome in the Parkville-Carney area.

The fire was reported in the 2900-block of Aspen Hill Road about 6:30 a.m. Friday.

The residents got out safely and no civilians or firefighters were injured. Fire officials say the fire spread to several adjacent homes.

The blaze was brought under control in about an hour. In all, two homes had interior damage and two homes had exterior damage.

The loss is estimated at $400,000.
