Teen Tried As Adult In Near-Fatal Beating

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) ―

A Baltimore judge has ordered that a teenager charged in a near-fatal beating be tried as an adult.

The ruling Wednesday in the case of defendant Eric Price means all four defendants in the June robbery and beating of Zachary Sowers will be tried as adults. The trial is scheduled for next month. Sowers remains in a coma.

Price was 16 when police say he was present when 16-year-old Trayvon Ramos kicked and stomped Sowers on June 2 near Patterson Park. Seventeen-year-old Arthur Jeter and 18-year-old Wilburt Martin allegedly waited in a car.

Prosecutors say the four defendants also robbed a woman at gunpoint near the park the following day.
