Crofton Man Dies In Shore Accident

GIRDLETREE, Md. (AP) ―

The Worcester County Sheriff's Office says alcohol and excessive speed were factors in a traffic accident that killed a 26-year-old man.

It happened about 9 p.m. Wednesday night on Route 12 north of Girdletree.

Police say 26-year-old Jonathan Wagner of Crofton was a passenger in a car that crossed the center line and collided with a pickup truck. He was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected in the crash.

Authorities say Wagner's 30-year-old brother, Jeffery, was the driver. He suffered serious injuries and is being treated at Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

Police say charges are pending.

The two occupants of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries.
