Elderly Man Struck, Killed While Crossing Street

SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) ― Montgomery County police say a Silver Spring man had died after being hit by a car in the White Oak neighborhood.

Authorities say a 71-year-old man was crossing New Hampshire Avenue in the crosswalk at about 10 a.m. Sunday when he was struck by 49-year-old Sang You Nahm of Bowie.

They say the light at New Hampshire Avenue had turned green, however the pedestrian signal had been red before the man started crossing the street. Police say Nahm was unable to stop in time to avoid the man, whose name has not been released.

He died Sunday at a hospital.

Nahm and an 84-year-old passenger were transported to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
