State Officials Probe Escape From Juvenile Center

SABILLASVILLE, Md. (AP) ― The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services says agency officials are visiting Sabillasville to investigate the escape of 14 youths from the Victor Cullen Center last week.

Department spokeswoman Tammy Brown says Secretary Donald DeVore and other high-ranking administrators are visiting the center Thursday along with the director of the agency's inspector general's office and his staff.

Brown says the officials planned to interview staff members and youths about the incident, in which six staff members were hurt.

She says the results of the investigation will be made public during a community meeting Monday night at the center.
