A Johns Hopkins University provost may be heading to Washington.

President Barack Obama has nominated Kristina Johnson to be Under Secretary of the Department of Energy.

If she is confirmed by the Senate, she will work to promote energy efficiency, clean air technology and other forms of green energy.

Johnson was the dean of engineering at Duke before becoming the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at Johns Hopkins.
