Balt. Co. Police Need Help To Find Missing Man

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) ― A man leaves his home for coffee and never returns.  Now police are launching a massive search for the 85-year-old.

Dennis Edwards spoke to neighbors who are worried something went terribly wrong.

Baltimore County Police are asking for your help in finding the missing 85-year-old.

Edwin Kerbe was last seen near his Calwell Road home last Friday.  He was supposed to meet friends for coffee.  Instead, he hasn't been seen since. On Sunday, his truck was recovered near a fishing spot at Port Covington.

"We've had K-9 teams looking for him.  We've had our air support helicopters looking for him.  We've also had divers dive," said Corporal Mike Hill, Baltimore County Police spokesperson.

All Kerbe's family can do is wait.  Police have traced his movements from their home to Port Covington.  The 5'6", 135-pound retiree is believed to be of sound mind and health.

"I saw him going through his normal routine, getting into his truck, going wherever he does.  He was always on the go, a man of massive energy," said George Kelly, Kerbe's neighbor.

At this stage, police tell Eyewitness News they have no evidence of foul play, but neighbors aren't quite so optimistic.

Nicole Hiteshew lives next door.

"It just seems to me that early in the morning, I think somebody hijacked him.  He's elderly.  He was by himself and they found his car and not him.  It just seems to me somebody did something to him," Hiteshew said.

Anyone with information about Kirbe's whereabouts should call police at 410-307-2020.
