Woman Pleads Guilty In Embezzlement

ELKTON, Md. (AP) ― An Elkton woman has pleaded guilty to 10 charges after she was accused of of embezzling more than $200,000 from her employer.

Forty-seven-year-old Donna Lee Cericole pleaded guilty last month to 10 counts of altering, forging or counterfeiting documents for money or goods. She will be sentenced on Sept. 10.

Assistant State's Attorney Kerwin A. Miller said Cericole has paid restitution.

According to police, Cericole began making unauthorized withdrawals from the unidentified Chesapeake City company's bank account shortly after being hired as a bookkeeper in late 2006.

The Cecil County Sheriff's Office found that the business owner's total loss was $203,000.
