A Harford County woman wants the American bulldog that attacked and killed her beagle-miniature collie mix, put down.
On Sept. 2, Linda Deris took seven-year-old Daisy May to the new PetSmart at Constant Friendship for a new leash and collar.
"There was this American bulldog. They started sniffing one another. Seconds later, the bulldog had Daisy May in its mouth shaking it like a rag doll," she told
Richard Sher.
Five people tried to separate them but could not. Eventually, the animal released what was left of Daisy May.
"I had her guts in my hand and told her to hang on. She was pronounced dead at the animal hospital," said Linda.
Harford County Animal Control cited the bulldog's owner declaring it a potentially dangerous dog and allowed it to return home.
Linda has since adopted a beagle mix from the Baltimore SPCA.
Her name is Goldie. Although Linda says no dog will ever replace Daisy May, she's already in love with Goldie.
PetSmart calls this, "an unfortunate incident that came as a surprise to them and to the pet parents of both dogs."
