Trial Continues For Doctor Accused With Assault

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) ―

The defense attorney for a Salisbury doctor who allegedly sexually assaulted a patient is questioning why the alleged victim waited to notify police and kept going to the doctor's office.

Attorney Helen Guyton is representing Mahmaud Shirazi, who was accused by the woman of sexually assaulting her during an appointment.

Shirazi is charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree sex offense.

He was charged five months after the alleged incident when the woman reported it to police.

She told the attorney she kept going back because she needed the medicine and didn't have to interact with Shirazi to get it.
