BALTIMORE (WJZ) ―

"It just seems like it was yesterday when I last saw her. Over time we grew close unintentionally. We shared some good memories. There will now be a void in our circle and forever in my heart. We love you so much and never imagined life without you would be so tough. Girls night out won't be the same without our "Swifty Poo" Love you baby girl." -- Ren'e

"I was out of town when we found out through a text message that K-Swift passed on. Admittedly, I am not a huge fan of club music, but anybody that knows anything about music in the club life knows this woman. She single handily put a female face on a male dominated industry and she did with intelligence, skill, and fire. From the weight loss that she shared with all of Baltimore, to listening to her grow and mature every year she was on the radio, you could tell she was something special. Arguably, the most known female DJ today. I hope this tragedy teaches us all that life is precious. It is a gift that should never be taken for granted, because I am sure Khia did not think she would take her last breath at 29. If you don't know CPR, please learn it tomorrow. We cannot judge who did not do what, but we can show everyone she did not die in vain. May God be with all who have heavy hearts right now. My love and prayers to all of you and her family." -- The Hill Family

"My thoughts, prayers and heart go out to the Edgerton Family. I am so sorry of the loss of a very beautiful, talented, kind, sweet, friendly young lady. Be strong. You have someone walking with you and giving you strength. God bless all of you. I used to work with Khia'a Aunt Claudette and I know that all of you are wonderful, kind, friendly and sweet'. so Khia learned from good people." -- S. Churchill

"We love K-Swift. All the way in the A, you will be missed." -- Ebony Dove

"I loved K-Swift since I was 13-years-old. Friday, July 18 was my first time ever seeing her in real life I  was so glad that I got the chance to see her. It really hurt me to find out that she died. I spent all day Monday crying and remembering all the times I set up late just to hear her show on 92Q, knowing that I had school in the morning. I looked up to K-Swift I wanted to be a nice, kind, and loving person just like her. She gave young girls in Baltimore like me some one to look up to. My love and sympathy goes out to K-Swift's family and to all who knew and loved her." -- Candyce Allen

"DJ K-Swift was the best of the best when it came to Baltimore Club. She will be truly missed by all.  I must say she came out with the best mixtapes ever and she knew about getting a party started. It's a shame how someone this young just in the prime of her career and life was suddenly cut short just in a matter of time. With everyone left grieving and wondering why her. She will always be remembered for what she loved to do best and that was entertaining a crowd of people. She will be forever remembered as the best. RIP DJ K-Swift." -- Fan

"I am deeply saddened by the loss of Baltimore's first lady of music K-Swift.  Although I didn't have the pleasure of meeting K-Swift personally, I felt like I knew her through her music and listening to her on the radio.  Her personality was always so upbeat and vibrant.  Although she was a young lady it seems as if she was older because she had been around for such a long and wonderful time.  Gone to soon is all I can say, when I think about her life and legacy.  My thoughts and prayers go out to her family, co-workers, and many friends.  I miss and I love you Swifty! P.S. Thanks for referring me to the Extreme Weight Loss Center! -- Steven Smith

"You were at my BFF's birthday party and I didn't go, but she knew you and you was a good person. Baltimore will never be the same with out you RIP K-SWIFT." -- Fan

"She was such a talented and positive person. She was known around Baltimore as the "club queen." She was known to get The party started. She was making it big, just to be a female DJ in a male industry showed power and many people gave their respect. We are going to miss you in the club. Music will never be the same. I also want to give my condolence to your family and friends." -- Teairra Johnson

"When I was about 14, I had the pleasure of meeting her. She did a party for us in Harford County. Not to long ago she also did a close friend of mine birthday party. I didn't think that would be the last time I'd see her beautiful face. I was just talking to my cousin on Sunday about throwing a party and the first person she said that we should have be our DJ was K-Swift. And I told her when I got to work on Monday that I would investigate on getting in contact with her. I came into work on Monday and was about to get on the ball with talking to her or her people and I got the news. My co-worker sent me an e-mail about her death. I thought this can't be true, until my mother called me and told me. I broke down at work. I'm only 18-years-old and to see such a beautiful person's life end so soon, I just couldn't believe it. At this point in time I thought that I would be OK. But, I have realized it will be harder and harder not hearing her crazy jokes on the radio or seeing her at the clubs or even seeing her in the mall giving hugs and showing love to those who supported her. She will always live in my heart!" -- Destiny Johnson

"I have been listening to K-Swift ever since she first began on air. I was 14-years-old at the time and she really inspired me. Now I am 24 and her death really cuts me deep. I will never forget her unique, and creative sound." -- Tee Llyons

"My life is over. What am I going to do? Why did it have to end this way. K-Swift music was why I had a life. She gave me and my friends a reason to stay out of trouble. I always said that I loved her and no matter what I would always support only 18 and growing up to K-Swift I don't know what I'm going to do now. The Paradox and Beach Bashes are never gonna be a same no one is ever gonna replace her. No matter what I'll always love and miss K-Swift. She was my role-model, idol, and a big sister from another mother and now she's taken away from me. My life is over and I have no reason to dance like I did. My prayers go out to her family, Baltimore, and her coworkers and she will always be THE CLUB QUEEN she just gone to heaven to DJ for THE LORD! I will always love you K-Swift." --Ashley N. Bailey West Baltimore

God bless your soul and may He watch and comfort your family through this trying time. "Never could have made it" -- Angie C.

"The club queen was not only a great asset to the black Baltimore community but also an inspiring role model. Her positive outlook on the world helped those who were younger than her aspire for nothing less than success. She will not only be missed in the club scene, but her bright voice will be missed on the air. Although this tragic accident ended her life at an early stage, her impact on the community will be remembered for years to come. "I was honored to have known Khia "K-Swift". Long before she was a popular DJ on 92Q, she was a Randallstown High School star. She woke us up in the morning with the daily news and a little club mix. One day in gym class, she noticed that some of the girls were picking on me because I was from New York and never heard of club music. She replied to them, 'club music is only popular in Baltimore, not the rest of the world, but I'm about to change that. So don't pick on her because she doesn't know something'. Then she turned to me and explained what club music is all about. From that day on, whenever she saw me in hallways, she would ask if I was OK and promised to look out for me. Thanks for allowing me to call you a friend." -- Vanesia Moodie

"I'm not originally from Maryland. I moved here seven years ago from Atlanta, GA. I first fell in love with Baltimore club music when I heard 'Rydah girl', one of K-Swifts songs, on the radio years ago. I've seen her perform at clubs, and I listened to her on the radio every day on my way home from work. I can't believe she is gone." -- Cecily, Annapolis, Md.

"I am upset over people without common sense. You're telling me that no one at that party or beside the pool could have attempted CPR on her? I just do not understand what has happened to this world when someone can just stand by and do nothing. Who knows, she may still be alive today if someone would have just tried CPR. I also want to know if 911 was called, at the time she was pulled out of the pool, your telling me they do not give instructions over the phone to help someone attempt CPR as well? I am absolutely appalled by the lack of common sense in this world these days. It only takes five minutes to read on how to do any life saving procedures, and plus you never know when you will need to help even a close family member. I think we need at least a state wide campaign to teach life saving procedures, or a state law that all people over a certain age need to be certified or have a minimum amount of classes on all life saving procedures. My deepest sympathy goes to everyone in her family." -- Tracy Hanratty

"I just want to give my prayers and love to her family. I also looked at her as my sister from another. I remember our days down the tunnel with Buck Shot and others, and she will greatly be missed. The club scene will not be the same without her. She is our number one female DJ of all time, and I love you K-Swift. Can't stop crying." -- Suncerae Cannady

"K-Swift was an important figure in Baltimore to those in the industry and even more to Baltimore's younger generation. We will never forget her, and things will not be the same without her." -- Christina

"I just can't believe she's gone. As I listened to the message Nickie had on the radio, I just broke down. I mean K-Swift's been around for such a long time providing us with club mix, after club mix. And the hardest part is not hearing her voice on the radio turning it on at six p.m. is never going be the same because she won't be there. All the parties, the personality, the great music, she will truly be missed. Swift was a great inspiration, and she had a big heart. She did a lot for B-more, and we greatly appreciate it. I love you Swift." -- Lasherra Garner

"The Linton Family would love to express their thoughts and memories that they shared with her to the family. Keep the faith, and know that God has a place for her now. Know that the journey that you are going through is just temporary and that their will always be love and support from many families and friends." -- Shelley Linton & The Linton Family

"I will truly miss you Khia. The club won't be the same without you. I know that you are in a better place, but we would do anything to see your face again. I love you Khia and always will." -- Kire Houston

"I feel that a life could have been saved, only if someone that was in the pool used good common sense. If she didn't resurface the first time, then measures should have been taken to see what the problem was. If I was the one in the pool with her, I would have been alarmed and done something about it. It makes one think, was this a premeditated. I know that she is with her maker now, but I just think that it could have been avoided. The life that one saves may be their own, and it was someone that was loved by everyone. My condolences to K-Swift and her family anyway, my heart goes out to you guys. Peace!" -- Virgo

"K-Swift was a great asset to Baltimore's music scene and will be greatly missed." -- Joe Mercer a.k.a "Techno Joe, Brooklyn, Md.

"Hi, my name is Khristina, and I'm 11-years-old. I'm really going to miss K-Swift because she was a great DJ, and she had a nice personality. R.I.P. K-Swift." -- Khristina Richardson

"I didn't know K-Swift personally, but she was still an inspiration to me. I remember when she first lost weight and spoke about it on air and then seeing the result and how she was so determined. I remember thinking wow, she is amazing. I often spoke to her in the clubs and at parties she attended at my university. She was always so nice, personable, and real. Words can not begin to express the pain I know you all are in, but please know that she was an inspiration to people she knew and many who she did not know. My prayers are with all of you and you always hear people say, 'never question God', and it is easier said when it is not you. Please do not lose faith in God, and know that her purpose on earth was so much greater than we could ever know, and now she has a purpose to fulfill in Heaven." -- Tamia Diggs

"I didn't know her personally, but as you can see, she was, is and always will be a beautiful person. She was the best female DJ also known as Baltimore's Club Queen. Sometimes things just seem like a dream, and you just can't believe it. So many young people are dying, but why did it have to be her, such a lovely person, such a short life. I will definitely keep her family in prayer." -- Kree Butler

She was the heart of Baltimore, and I'm still going to progress with my music. She was my idol, and she did such a good job as a DJ, a friend to some people, a mother and a cousin. We love you K-Swift. I'm gonna reach to the top because you told me to never give up. You helped me become DJ Lil Deuce. I will miss you. I know you are watching; I'm not going to let u down." -- Tyrone Queen

"I'm honored to have gotten to work with Khia side-by-side on so many theater events and in mass media class together at Randallstown HS in 1995 and 1996. I got to know a side of her that most never did. She had a strong willed, never giving up, kind of attitude. Always saying it was not done until it was perfect. My prayers are with her family, and I will miss her greatly." -- Matt, Randallstown

"K-Swift was a great person. She showed all the kids and young adults that you can do something with your life other than sell drugs and be lazy. 92Q will never be the same without her, and she truly will be missed. The loss of her truly will impact the lives of her fans in Baltimore. I hope she rests in peace and gets what she was truly worth in heaven which was peace." -- Timara

Here I am two albums later with only her positivity to thank. Without her guidance and reassurance, I never would be where I am at. God must have plans for a big party in heaven, he took the Club Queen from us." -- Kayla Keysz

"I am a 20-year-old young woman born and raised in Baltimore. I remember me and all of my cousins dancing to her club mixes in my bedroom at 12-years-old while celebrating holidays, singing to her club mixes. I didn't know her personally, but I feel like it was such a close lost, and it hurts me that she's gone. The only thing that is promising about life though, is death. We can't escape it. We will surely miss K-Swift dearly. I send my prayer and love to her family, co workers, close friends, and even Baltimoreans who loved her and her mixes!" -- KeKe Nachia

"This is Cecelia Johnson from Randallstown Md. and I'm 15-years-old. I really didn't know her really, but i did listen to her clubmix. We took a picture at the Artscape this weekend, and she was just walking in to perform. What I remember is that she was like, "Well let me know how much time I got because I gotta eat." That's how I know it was her. So my sister asked her can we take a picture, and she was nice enough to. Then this morning when I heard she died, I didn't want to believe it, but I had to. At least she's in the place, the best place to be...heaven. We will all see her there, and we can party with her. I will pray for her family and friends everyday. "I am a native of Baltimore now living in Selbyville.  When my daughters called me this morning to tell me the news, I was stunned.  This is truly a tragic loss for her family and the city of Baltimore.  Her skills as a DJ were outstanding and it showed how people would respond when her club mixes were played.  The air time will never be the same and it will be a while before people recover from this.  Even though at this time it is so shocking, we must remember that God does have a master plan for us all and now He has another angel at His side.  My prayers and thoughts go out to her mother and other family members and friends."  --Jennifer

"I just can't believe this is true.  I can still remember going down to the Tunnel just 'cause K-Swift was DJing and everybody just knew if it was a Swift party, it was gonna be off the hook.  Me and my girls followed her to the Paradox and then to Hammerjacks.  She will most definitely be missed and the club scene won't be the same without her."  --Ashley

"The DJ was popular on the radio and at the club choices.  She will truly be missed and her music will always be heard and remembered.  She was not really famous, but in a way she was, because of her beauty and talent for mixing music.  You are truly going to be missed."  --Viewer

"I want to just say that since I was 13, I have been listening to K-Swift's club music and it was so much fun when you're hanging with your friends and you just feel like dancing.  I am 21 now and Thursday and Friday nights will never be the same.  The clubs in Baltimore City will never be the same.  She will surely be missed and always loved."  --Christina

"Although I never knew K-Swift personally, my thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.  It's going to be different not hearing her voice on 92Q anymore, but she is in a better place.  I am not sure what the outcome would have been, but I wish someone would have tried CPR on her.  Truly, my heart is with those who lost Khia Edgerton."  --Viewer

"DJ K-Swift will be missed by all.  Nobody will ever take the place of the club queen."  --Viewer

"My condolences go to her family, friends and co-workers. Tomorrow is not promised and we should live each day to the fullest and she did that. I personally did not know K-Swift, but I do know her work/music spoke of her passion for music. I pray God give you all comfort in your time of bereavement. God bless."-- Jea

"This young lady has over come obstacles and made a wonderful life for herself and others around and dear to her. Answers we will never have. She was one of God's beautiful creations and he has called her home. All of her wonderful memories will get us thru this hard time of acceptance. You are a special gift and our Father above has wrapped his warm loving arms around her. Blessing to her Family."  Listener

"I was shocked and still shocked that your life was taken away from you so suddenly.  I know music was your thing and I was so proud to see someone from my highschool - Randallstown - doing so well, so quickly in the music industry.  I still remember you doing the music for our school's morning announcements. I couldn't wait to hear the music because that would get my school day started. I loved your club mixes! You'll definitely be missed by many.  My thoughts and prayers are with your family.  May God be with you." -- Boma (former classmate)." - RHS, c/o '97

"My heart is deeply saddened from this tragedy.  I saw K-Swift for the first time a few years ago at the Mountain Dew Summer Jam.  I was able to put a pretty face to the beautiful voice.  She had such an inspirational voice and it shows through her music.  I have been trying not to shed any tears, but it's hard.  I feel like I have known her personally.  My heart goes out to K-Swift's family and 92Q family.  K-Swift will forever be a legend that will be truly missed.  God bless."  --Kisha
