Cpl. Courtney Brooks was handling traffic control for the New Year's Eve celebration at the Inner Harbor and was struck as he was setting up cones on a ramp on Interstate 395.
One year after a Maryland Transportation Authority police officer was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Baltimore, the trial may be nearing for the woman charged in his death.
Kerri King, 36, of Elkton is scheduled to go on trial Jan. 15. She's charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated in the death of Cpl. Courtney Brooks, 40, on New Year's Eve 2007.
Brooks was handling traffic control for the New Year's Eve celebration at the Inner Harbor and was struck as he was setting up cones on a ramp on Interstate 395. King's damaged vehicle was found hours later at a truck stop in Cecil County.
King remains in custody on an earlier conviction of driving with a suspended license.
