Officer Marks First Anniversary Of Being Shot

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― A Baltimore police officer wounded in the line of duty last Jan. 31 is observing the one-year anniversary in a special way.

Officer David Hare, a five-year veteran of the BCPD, has organized the first ever rally designed to show support for law officers.

"It's not just when an officer is injured on the job that he or she needs support. They need to know people care about them at all times," Hare, 35, told Richard Sher.

"We don't need a funeral to let police officers know people are behind them 100 percent," Detective Carol Vila, president of the National Latino Peace Officers Association, said.

The rally will be held Thursday at Max's on Broadway, 737 South Broadway, beginning at 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Money raised from the live auction and other special events will go toward the Baltimore Police Memorial.
