Bail Denied For 2 Cult Members

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― Bail has been denied for two alleged members of the 1 Mind Ministries cult.

Mike Hellgren reports the judge has denied bail for Queen Antoinette and Trevia Williams.  He called Queen Antoinette an extreme risk to public safety.

The two were supposed to be separated, but they sat by one another Wednesday in court. Both were representing themselves.

Antoinette asked the judge what happens at a preliminary hearing. After the judge explained that the hearing would give the state an opportunity to show probable cause that a defendant had committed a crime, Antoinette said, "I don't want one." Williams then waived her right to a hearing as well.

During the hearing, Queen Antoinette shook her head and snickered as the judge denied the bail.  During the hearing it was also revealed that she had a prior conviction in 2008 for harassment in New York state.

Eyewitness News
was able to obtain a home video of little Javon Thompson. An autopsy revealed Javon died of a heart attack.

Javon's uncle has said the cult tried to recruit people with children.

"They really wanted to meet when they found out my son was born.  They go outside shouting at demons, talking to demons, see stuff on my shoulders.  It was more praying to the king and the queen than to the Lord," said Ricky Ramkissoon.

He also revealed what happened the last time he saw his nephew, Javon.

"I gave him an Oreo and they went crazy, saying he's not allowed to eat anything," he said.

Police have now charged five cult members with his murder, including  Queen Antoinette, who investigators believe is one of the cult's leaders.

Police say she denied the baby food and water for two days for not saying "Amen" after his meal.

The cult --known as 1 Mind Ministries-- tried to resurrect him from the dead inside a home in West Baltimore on Auchentoroly Terrace, the group headquarters.

In February 2007, the cult moved to Philadelphia, taking a green suitcase with the baby inside.  The body remained in the suitcase inside a storage shed for months.

"These allegations were filed after a lengthy investigation by police departments in multiple jurisdictions," said Margaret Burns, City State's Attorney's Office spokesperson.

Javon's mother, Ria Ramkissoon, is among those charged with his murder. Her mother tells Eyewitness News the cult brainwashed Ria.

"The controlling, they can tell you the colors you wear, the way you comb your hair, that kind of stuff. That's mind controlling," said Seeta Khadan, grandmother.

Court documents reveal Javon was malnourished and died in his mother's arms.

Cult members thought Javon was a demon.

"Unfortunately, my little man is gone. He's never coming back," said Khadan.

Prosecutors told the judge Queen Antoinette had been homeless for three months before her arrest and she had one prior conviction in May 2008 for harassment.

Authorities are still searching for another cult leader, Steven Bynum, last seen in New York.
