More Than 50 Wrecks Tied To Dorchester Snow Storms
CAMBRIDGE, Md. (AP) ―
A Dorchester County Councilman says about 50 cars went in the ditch Monday after heavy snow storms on the Eastern Shore.
Ricky Travers said the minor accidents happened along a roughly 30-mile stretch of Route 50 between Easton and Vienna Sunday and Monday as nearly a foot of snow fell.
Cambridge Police Department Lt. Wayne Bromwell said there had been no major crashes by Monday. Travers said the worst of the storm came between 8 p.m. Sunday and midnight when heavy, wet snow was falling.
His son, a Montgomery County firefighter, drove home from the Eastern Shore Sunday night. He told his father the worst conditions were east of the Bay Bridge, saying the roads got much better after the bridge.
