Worker Injured In Annapolis Crane Accident

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) ―

A crane accident in Annapolis sends a man to the hospital.

Mary Bubala reports it happened just after 7 a.m. on the 2000-block of West Street in the Annapolis Towne Centre Complex.

Officials say a 46-year-old male was injured and flown to Shock Trauma with serious injures.

Officials say the employee was preparing to set up the crane for Thursday's work and was about to lift some material to put on the roof. A major part of the crane, possibly a pulley, fell onto to the crane operator's compartment, injuring the operator.

The victim was pulled out by a co-worker.  Hazardous materials crews responded to clean up a hydraulic fluid spill.

Safety officials are on the scene.

This is the second crane accident that has happened at this location. The Annapolis Towne Centre was the scene of a fatal crane accident on April 30. A worker from Silver Spring was killed when he became pinned between two pieces of a crane he was dismantling about 200 feet above the site.
